Asus 290 just died !

So i made a thread some month ago that my 290 was always getting really hot.
I made a lot of change to help this card, i bought a phanteks enthoo tempered Glass, two corsair fan extrême performance ( and a new motherboad on am4 ( and a ryzen and ddr4 but this is another story haha ) to put my soundcard more away from the GPU to get a better air cooling).

So Yesterday , i put on the computer , and after 30s on the movie i was watching , i got a lot of artefact and my computer shut down.
I tried another movie , same. I launch à game to check my computer and at the boot screen of the game, the.gpu just died haha

Now it's like this : https://youtu.be/-ocEBUbalFA

I can't even go to windows , i had to install my old 6950.
Do you think the GPU Can be repair ? ( I m going to wait Vega 56 i think )

High frequency memory... is it all just PC2133 proven to the specified frequency?

So I completed a build a little while back and was running a 2133mhz kit which I was able to OC to 3000mhz. I was looking for a little more so I started looking online and see several G.Skill kits that are listed for 4000mhz+, but when I check out their website they state the standard speed as 2133mhz.

So this brings about my question, is the ram manufactured as 2133 and (given that this was the default for Z170) and simply tested to reach the advertised speeds or is there something different within the modules themselves?

I assume its just proven OC speeds but I have to ask!

Android alarm clock will not go off

I don't know what is going on, but the alarm clock stopped working. There was a clock app update probably two weeks ago and the alarm has not worked since then. Before, the stock Android clock screen was blue and had red buttons to determine if the alarm was on or off....they then changed to a black background with blue buttons.

I have a M-F alarm and then another separate alarm for Thursday only. The settings have not changed. I woke up this morning and looked over at the phone.....the alarm icon notification in the system tray is not there. It just seems to disappear. When I tap the clock app on my home screen, the alarms both show up as "on".....but the notification is still not there. As soon as I turn one of the alarms off, the notification appears and then I turn the alarm back on.

I uninstalled the "update" but I want it to work regardless.

Performance (FPS) degrading Fix for Crimson

I've been tinkering around with Crimson's profiles and as such noticed a big decrease in performance. Initially I would uninstall then reinstall and poof problem is gone. However, the problem returned when again trying to create specific voltage profiles with Crimson.

I began researching and found out that resetting the Cache would fix the performance degrading problem. However, for whatever reason it doesn't work. As I looked at the folders associated with AMD's cache and nothing changed. So I had to go into safe mode to remove them. This may not be a problem for you though. However, here is how you go about it in Crimson.

Open up Crimson > Gaming > Global Settings
In the upper right corner > Reset > Select Shader Cache
Are you sure you want to clear the shader cache? Select Yes
Exit Crimson and Reboot.

If you were having a performance problem this should help as it has for me. But I had to go the extra steps of manually delete the cache from within AMD's sub DxCache folder (not the folder itself).

Just passing this along as it helped me.

Watch Dogs - Entitylibrary Modding Tool

I am finally able to share the FCBastard with you, a converter for the entity library of both Watch Dogs games.

It is a very powerful tool, developed by Fireboyd78 who literally worked his ass of in the last months - that's why it feels weird sharing his tool to the public.

In the entity library, there is everything you expected to be in there - all vehicles, weapons, characters, objects and all of their settings. This also gave us the possibility to add a camera to the helicopter, which has been impossible since the first person discovered how to spawn a helicopter in the game.

To those who asked why we didn't release this tool earlier be said that we originally didn't plan on releasing this tool to the public at all - we wanted to protect the games against the abuse of this tool which possibly results in cheating in multiplayer, given the possibilities it brings. But Ubisoft's decision to make the use of mods in multiplayer of Watch Dogs 2 impossible made us change our minds. We don't really have something to take care of now as the multiplayer part of Watch Dogs 1 is already full of cheaters, so the release of this tool doesn't harm it anymore.

The tool is compatible to both Watch Dogs 1 and 2, and the usage is very simple. Dragging the entitylibrary_rt.fcb file into the FCBastard.exe will create a new folder with all the single entities inside. It will also create an XML-file which is the equivalent to the *_converted.xml files the Gibbed tools creates. To repack the library, drag this XML into the FCBastard.exe and copy the new entitylibrary_rt.fcb from the bin-folder into your patch.

Note that the game only uses the entitylibrary_rt file, not the other one!

Feel free to discuss anything related to the tool in this thread!

Agents of Mayhem (Saint's Row developers)

Apparently no advertising going on in this game because it's only been mentioned by two users ever on this forum and I have never seen anything on this until I noticed it on the top sellers on steam

Anyway, Saints Row developers have a new game coming out soon, how soon? Next tuesday soon.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/304530

And pre release stuff has not been entirely positive from what i've seen, it may be another Gat out of hell quality game, which is £2.50 on steam now (never played it because middling reviews but thats a fair price to try it)

Seems like it's mixed a bit of borderlands style combat in there anyway, not sure how the game plays out as a whole though, not expecting stellar reviews anyway

So?

SLI GTX970 G1 Gaming vs GTX980 Ti Strix OC vs GTX1070 Dual benchmarks

GTX980 Ti Strix OC vs GTX1070 Strix OC benchmarks

After i did benchmarks for SLI GTX970 vs. GTX980 Ti vs. GTX1070, which you can find here, i've decided to do a separate fair battle between GTX980 Ti and GTX1070 given the fact that last time GTX1070 was a poor factory overclock compared to GTX980 Ti good factory overclock; this time both of the cards are Strix OC gaming variants.

Open GTX980 Ti Strix OC vs GTX1070 Strix OC benchmarks video to see the results.

Did i try overclocking? Yes, GTX1070 crashed when overclocked to 2075 MHz boost clock from it's maximum 2017 MHz boost clock with 50 mV added, so no OC vs. OC battle possible.

The tested video cards are:

Fans replacement for corsair h100i v2

Hello all, I just got the Corsair h100i v2 cooler.
I want to replace the stock fans with led ones.
As you know that there are a million fans out there and its tough to choose from.
I want blue led fans with high static pressure and similar rpm like the stock sp120 pwm fans that come with the h100i v2.
Only corsair is the preferred brand.

RTSS causes Afterburner to close/crash when trying to access it

Recent Windows Update(from this past week) hit my system, logged on to find RTSS giving an error about application not being compatible bla bla.
Invariably I uninstalled it and Afterburner, got the newest versions and now two things were happening :

1. MSI Afterburner shows it's details in system tray, though if you hover over or try to access the program, it crashes/closes.

2. RTSS was still kicking out the error

I found the special 700Beta19 RTSS which stopped the compatibility error, yet Afterburner still closes.

Confirmed that RTSS is related as after uninstalling both completely and reinstalling Afterburner, it works fine. Once RTSS is back on the system, Afterburner crashes again.

BTW, search function is broken before anyone complains
